San Diego, CA, March 12, 2015 – ANTARA Group, an emerging information technology consultancy firm announced today that renowned life sciences and IT compliance and regulatory affairs executive Howard Asher will join the company to lead its efforts in providing solutions for managing information and business processes for companies and organizations within the health and life science sectors.
As the founder of Global Life Sciences Inc., Asher developed business processes for heavily regulated companies to successfully manage governances and compliance while improving ROI by mitigating IT as a risk. These processes include protected credit, health and individual information or PCI, PHI and PII and regulations by FDA, HHS and international government bodies.
For several years, Asher led Sun Microsystem’s Global Life and Health Sciences business unit overseeing engineering, sales and marketing teams in 140 countries. It was at Sun where Asher founded the Life Sciences Information Technology Global Institute, a nonprofit organization responsible for developing an independent source of trusted IT guidance referred to as Good Informatics Practices (GIP) for the global life and health sciences community.
“As an influential and well respected leader in the life sciences industry, Howard Asher will bring a wealth of valuable experience and tremendous insight to serve clients, address critical issues and implement important innovations that will help shape IT compliance and governance across the information technology landscape.” said Tim Caulfield, CEO of ANTARA Group. “We are excited and fortunate to have his strong voice, steady leadership and unparalleled experience on our team.”
Asher has a lengthy track record building successful companies. In 1999 he started BioQ Inc. where he helped develop an innovative, smart automated system to expedite the medical product information process and manage data in any language. For nearly 20 years, Asher ran Advanced Bioresearch Associates which grew into the premier life sciences regulatory affairs consulting firm in the world. The company secured regulatory approval for hundreds of healthcare and medical products, including drugs, bio therapeutics, medical devices and in-vitro diagnostics.
He will now bring his breadth of experience and long list of accomplishments to round out ANTARA Group and its formidable stable of IT Infrastructure executives. “I am looking forward to working with ANTARA Group and am excited to be part of a truly special team that brings together some of the brightest minds across all IT operations and disciplines,” Asher said.
Asher will oversee the company’s efforts in consulting with businesses, health organizations and life science firms on a wide range of issues, practices and business processes associated with regulatory compliance and information guidelines.
